MLB Power Rankings: Week 18

Power Rankings
CurrentTeamPrevious
1Texas Rangers1
Texas has been most notably linked to the likes of Cole Hamels and Zack Greinke. If Hamels resigns with the Phillies, the Rangers could make a run at Greinke although he is considered more of a distant plan B for them.
2New York Yankees2
The Yankees are reportedly looking for outfield help as they have been mentioned in talks for Shane Victorino and Denard Span.
3Washington Nationals3
With Stephen Strasburg possibly being shut down in late August/early September, Ryan Dempster could be a fit for the Nationals as they gear up for October without their ace.
4Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim4
The Angels are in the market for both bullpen and rotation help. They apparently are very interested in James Shields as well as Greinke. Jerry Dipoto could use Garrett Richards and Jean Segura as potential pieces to land a top arm.
5Cincinatti Reds +16
The Reds have been looking for a leadoff man and outfield help. They could possibly solve both problems by trading for Denard Span.
6Pittsburgh Pirates  +28
The Pirates are reportedly interested in Justin Upton, but they will probably wait until the offseason to make such a deal. The Bucs will likely look to bolster their lineup with a veteran bat such as Shane Victorino.
7San Francisco Giants +29
The Giants have been most notably linked to bullpen help. Jonathan Broxton could be an ideal fit for the NL West leading Giants.
8Detroit Tigers +513
The Tigers have been linked to most pitchers available on the market. They could swing a deal for Greinke, Shields, Garza, or Dempster.
9Atlanta Braves -27
The Braves are in need of pitching, and Ryan Dempster could be a perfect fit for Atlanta.
10St. Louis Cardinals10
The Cardinals could be a potential landing spot for the Cubs Ryan Dempster as their rotation has been hindered by injuries this season.
11Chicago White Sox -65
The Sox have a weak farm system, which will likely limit their opportunities to buy this year. They have already acquired Brett Myers, who brings a veteran presence to a rookie-laden bullpen.
12Oakland Athletics +214
The A's haven't really been linked to anyone buying wise, but Bartolo Colon and Grant Balfour each have markets if the A's decide to sell.
13Los Angeles Dodgers -211
The Dodgers are desperately in need of a bat to aid their struggling lineup. Chase Headley would be an ideal option, but the Padres are reportedly asking the moon for him. They have also been linked to Shane Victorino, Cole Hamels, Ryan Dempster, and Matt Garza.
14Tampa Bay Rays -212
Recently, reports have emerged that James Shields could be on the market. The Tigers and Angels are among those interested. Jim Bowden of ESPN also tossed out a potential deal that would send Shields and Ben Zobrist to Anaheim in exchange for Howie Kendrick, Garrett Richards, and John Hellweg. Although the deal is unlikely, it would be an intriguing one.
15Baltimore Orioles +217
The Orioles are among the favorites to land Jason Vargas from Seattle. They could possibly use some of their struggling young pitching to acquire additional rotation help.
16Boston Red Sox16
The Red Sox have been linked to almost everybody. As of right now, I could see them as a likely landing spot for Matt Garza.
17Toronto Blue Jays +118
The Blue Jays and Astros completed a massive 10 player trade on Friday. They acquired relief help in Brandon Lyon and David Carpenter. They also added some rotation depth in JA Happ.
18Arizona Diamondbacks +220
Justin Upton trade talks continue to swirl, but it looks more likely he would be dealt in the offseason rather than before July 31st.
19New York Mets -415
Despite being under .500, the Mets have said they won't be selling this year. I doubt they will be big buyers, so I wouldn't expect the Mets to make any major moves.
20Cleveland Indians -119
Despite their awful run differential, the Indians are still hovering around the AL Wild Card Race. They're in the market for a bat such as Shane Victorino. They could also try to bolster the rotation and add someone such as Francisco Liriano.
21Milwaukee Brewers21
Zack Greinke may be the biggest name dealt this summer if the Brewers can't resign him. The Rangers, Angels, and Tigers are among the frontrunners to land him.
22Miami Marlins22
Despite their offseason spending spree, the Marlins have dug themselves into a deep hole in the NL East. Because of this, they will likely be selling somewhat at the deadline. Anibal Sanchez is a likely candidate to take his talents out of South Beach.
23Philadelphia Phillies +124
A lot hinges on whether the Phillies will resign Cole Hamels. Either way, I believe Shane Victorino will be dealt. Possible suitors include the Yankees and Dodgers.
24Kansas City Royals -123
If the Royals need one thing, it's starting pitching. Since they aren't contending this season, they could look into acquiring a pitcher with multiple years of control left such as a Jon Lester type.
25Seattle Mariners +126
The Mariners likely wont be very active in the trade market this year, but one player who could be dealt is Jason Vargas. Vargas could bring back 1 or 2 B level prospects for the Mariners.
26Minnesota Twins +127
In his last 2 starts, Francisco Liriano has struck out 25 in 14 innings while allowing 5 runs. His trade value has sky rocketed over the past month.
27San Diego Padres +128
The Padres recently locked up Carlos Quentin, and are looking to do the same with Huston Street. That leaves Chase Headley as the most likely Padre to be dealt this summer. As a potential All-Star with 2.5 years of control, he is extremely attractive to clubs seeking a third baseman.
28Chicago Cubs -325
The Cubs have two of the most attractive trade options this year in Matt Garza and Ryan Dempster. They have many suitors, and the Dodgers have emerged as a likely candidate to land one of them.
29Colorado Rockies29
On Friday, the Rockies traded Jeremy Guthrie to the Royals in exchange for Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez has been horrendous since coming to KC in the Melky Cabrera swap last offseason. A change of scenery could be good for Sanchez, although Coors Field will give any pitcher trouble.
30Houston Astros30
The Astros have already dealt Carlos Lee, Brandon Lyon, JA Happ, and Brett Myers. Next up on their to do list is Wandy Rodriguez. Wandy hasn't performed well as of late, so his market has dwindled. Ken Rosenthal recently tweeted that "it will [likely] be awhile" until Wandy is traded.

Biggest Jump: Detroit Tigers +6
Biggest Drop: Chicago White Sox -5
